EdgeMissions

We believe God wants us to go global by starting where we are and then going everywhere with the gospel. Jesus put it this way in Matthew 28:18-20: “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.” These words contain our marching orders for living on mission. In short, our mission mandate is mandatory.

Jesus tells us what we’re to do – go and make disciples. Actually, it literally says, “in your going” or “as you go,” make disciples. In Jesus’ mind, it’s a given that we will go! And we’re told to go global – to all the nations. This word for “nations” refers not to geo/political entities but to “people groups,” of which there are about 13,000 in the world. Mark 16:15 adds that we are to “go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” In Acts 1:8 we see the strategy for gospel expansion: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

We believe that we’re called to live on mission in our homes and neighborhood and community (Jerusalem). Then we’re to take the gospel to our county (Judea) and then move out to our country (Samaria). Finally, we’re to reach the continents (ends of the earth). That’s why we partner with both local missions and global missions.
